Warmth At Christmas
‘Warmth At Christmas’
A tree
In a square
Brightly lit
Piercing the air
Lights on its branches
Mirror the sky
Stars all around us
To dazzle our eyes
Pinpoints of light
Every star a sun
Surrounded by planets
In gravity spun
Planets as varied
As Christmas baubles
With spots and hearts
And rings of laurels
Pinpoints of light
Every star a fire
Sharing heat
Until they expire
Their family bound
In orbiting unity
Crossing the void
A sense of community
We all need light
At this time of year
In the cold and dark
Of winter air
Fire for warmth
Sparks of light
To feed our souls
To nourish our lives
For light is a gift
We all should give
The warmth of our souls
Is food to live
Warmth is a need
No one should forfeit
Let’s share it with those
In colder orbits
For no one should dwell
In cold and dark
No one should hunger
With empty mouths
Love and friendship
Great or small
Is always the warmest
Gift of all.
