Spoken Word Spotlight, January 2024: Pint of Poetry, Stamford

01.22.2024 by Scott Coe // Leave a Comment

I felt it would be apt to start this monthly feature, right here with what I consider to be my home event.
This ever popular event, usually hosted by the current Stamford Poet Laureate, is held every month, usually in the gallery bar at the Stamford Arts Centre.
Sometimes with up to 20 different readers, the event is an open mic (although no audio equipment is currently used), with readers signing up on the night.
Pleasant surroundings, usually with art exhibitions as a background and a small bar.

Occasions to look out for – January is a Burns Night Special and April is the Stamford Laureate Final.

Regularity: Monthly
When: Last Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm
Where: The Gallery Bar, Stamford Arts Centre, 27 St Mary’s Street, PE9 2DL (w3w = ///fame.slowly.surely) Free parking after 6:30pm in Wharf Road, approx. 3 minutes walk away, or or approx. 10 minutes walk from Stamford station.
Disabled access: Yes
Bar: Yes
Cost: Free

About Scott

Scott Coe is a performance poet and artist, and is the former Poet Laureate of Stamford. He believes poetry should always be written from the heart – it’s all about feeling and is always at it’s best when written in the moment, when the thoughts run straight from your soul to the pen.

He also has keen interests in visual and audio arts and is working on new projects in these areas.
